Sexuality and Gender StudiesĀ (Minor)
Dr. Abigail Wightman, Coordinator
Dr. Paige Reed, Affiliate Faculty
The Sexuality and Gender Studies minor is intended to introduce students to the multifaceted dimensions of gender, sexuality, gender identity, and the ways in which they intersect with other social identities. The core of the minor explores sexuality and gender through a social science perspective, and elective courses allow students to examine dimensions of sexuality and gender within particular academic disciplines that align to their major and career goals. A minor in Sexuality and Gender Studies provides students with a broad understanding of human gender and sexual diversity, providing the tools to engage in meaningful conversations about gender and sexuality and work with sexual and gender minorities. The SGS minor would enhance a career in any professional setting, particularly those working with diverse populations or in interdisciplinary fields.
