NUR 829 : PMHNP PRACT 2: CHILD ADOL PSYC

This practicum focuses on psychiatric assessment and treatment of children and adolescents, emphasizing developmental, family-systems, and trauma-informed frameworks. Students gain proficiency in interviewing youth and families, synthesizing psychosocial and biological data, and implementing age-appropriate pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic interventions. The 0.5-credit didactic portion reinforces best practices for collaboration with families, schools, and interdisciplinary teams. Emphasis is placed on ethical and culturally sensitive care, family engagement, and resilience promotion. Clinical supervision develops the student’s ability to manage common pediatric disorders such as ADHD, anxiety, and mood dysregulation within primary and specialty settings.
