NUR 811 : PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC MODALITIES
This course prepares Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner students to apply and integrate evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions in the treatment of individuals, groups, and families across the lifespan. Students explore diverse psychotherapeutic approaches such as psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, humanistic, family systems, solution-focused brief therapy, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed interventions to support individualized, recovery-oriented care. Ethical, cultural, developmental, and neurobiological dimensions of therapy are emphasized, along with documentation and billing practices relevant to advanced nursing practice.
