NUR 873 : ANESTHESIOLOGY SIMULATION LAB III
This advanced-level simulation course provides nurse anesthesia residents with immersive, hands-on training in the application of complex anesthetic principles and patient safety practices. Emphasis is placed on pediatric airway assessment and the execution of advanced airway management techniques in accordance with the ASA Difficult Airway Algorithm, including fiberoptic intubation, video laryngoscopy, and surgical airway access. Students develop clinical decision-making skills for anesthetic preparation and management of patients with pulmonary, thoracic, and cardiac conditions. The course includes training in ultrasound-guided central venous catheter insertion and waveform analysis to support advanced monitoring and vascular access skills. Simulation experiences reinforce the principles of Anesthesia Crisis Resource Management (ACRM), communication, leadership, professionalism, ethical decision-making, and culturally responsive, patient-centered care.
