SOWK 604 : APPROACHES TO SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE - EMPOWERMENT APPROACHES
Building on core skills developed in the generalist curriculum, this graduate-level course explores dynamics of empowerment, and core principles of empowerment approaches to practice. Students learn to apply empowerment approaches to engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation of practice across systems levels, and complete a “deep dive” project, developing greater expertise about experiences of (dis)empowerment and implications for social work practice with a selected population, organization, or community.
Prerequisites
Acceptance in the Advanced Standing MSW program OR successful completion of the generalist MSW curriculum.
