HIST 218 : AMERICAN MEDICAL HISTORY
This course explores the history of medicine in the United States from the colonial period to the present. We aim to consider how medical knowledge and health practices evolve in response to scientific discovery and social change. We will investigate how medical practitioners and institutions gain legitimacy and how individuals and communities experience, shape, and resist medical systems.
